I am starting up a home based photography business, primarily focusing on weddings.
What type of ownership should I designate on the business license?
Corporate (obvious no)
LLC
Sole Proprietor
Trust
I’ve heard an LLC has a lot of shield to your personal assets, I worry about being sued and someone going after my personal assets like cars/ house / wages.

LLC is your best bet. You can do it yourself by going to your states website and then to the Secretary of the State section. There you will find a one page downloadable form. Fill it out and mail it in, together with the filing fee and in about a week, you will be an LLC.
