Question by Alex: What does having your kitchen inspected for health code entail.?
I plan to start a home based pastry business in Ohio and i found out i need to have have my kitchen inspected for health code. Did anyone have this done? do you know what the health department is looking for? Please reply only if you had direct experience with this issue. Thank you.

Look up your state requirements for a commercial good place, based on your permits and license (which I am assuming you have) you will likely have to pass a food safety course where you will learn all of the health codes and ways to properly store, handle, and prepare food. Then you will have to make any repairs and install any necessary equipment to make things kosher with the regulations. By this point they will come in to inspect that you have the proper facilities and will periodically re-check to make sure you are maintaining them. My family owns a restaurant so we have to keep things updated and whatnot, not sure about Ohio laws but you will be notified if you find out what kinds of licenses you need to legally have a business.
