Question by : What is the legality and requirements for online business?
I am starting a site which will feature mostly Pay Per Click type advertisements. Much like a blog, it will not sell anything directly and will only seek revenue through third party advertisers. What must be done locally or nationally to comply with the man? I am out of CA. So far, nothing on the web clearly explains online rules for such situations. Are there actually any guidelines for such “business”?

There are no such restrictions for online businesses even if you are selling some items through your website / portal or you are getting revenues by showing third party ads. The points which should be kept in mind are as follows.
1) Ensure that the objects you are displaying on your website are not used elsewhere.
2) Ensure that the content / text you are showing on your website are unique and not copyright protected by anyone else.
3) You have furnished your details in domain registrants for future references.
4) You have clearly mentioned “Cookie Policy” and “Privacy Policy” on the website / portal which lists terms of using your website.
These are more than enough to consider while starting up your online business through your website / portal.
