I am opening a home based business.Should I Mark up the cost of my product based on cost and not the selling price of my products ?

If you are selling an existing product, you should mark up the price based on the cost.
If you are creating your own and have a specific market that you need to price at a certain level, then you work backwards to determine what the cost should be.
