Question by VCVero: Anybody knows what do I need to start a home-based business?
I want to bake cakes and sell some home made chocolates, but I don´t know what kind of permissions do I need.
Can I register the business in one state and sell to another one?
this is going to be a very very small business but I want to do it legally and I can´t find enough information about it!!

The major problem is that you are planning on selling food, which is regulated by the health department. The restrictions/requirements for passing a health department inspection can be very stringent (need for a commercial kitchen, etc.).
Once you sell across state lines, you then come under the additional jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration (interstate commerce) and the Commerce Department.
Also, check with your local zoning commission to find out of you can operate a commercial kitchen out of your home and if not, what you need to do to make it legal. And of course, you will need a business license (which is actually easy to get).
