What licenses and permits do I need to start a home based catering business in New York City?
I’ve googled it and everything but it’s hard to find a page that says exactly what I have to do. I’d appreciate advice, especially from anyone who has started a catering business themselves.

You need business license, health department certification of your kitchen, etc. Complicated and expensive, but then you will be handling food. Not a good idea for a home-based biz, especially in NYC.
