Question by KatieMat: Do I need a Minnesota Assumed Name Certificate for an online business?
I am going to start an online business. In the past, businesses in the state of Minnesota needed to have a Certificate of Assumed Name if they weren’t using their name as their business name. Does this apply to online businesses as well?

According to the Secretary of State’s website: “Any individual, corporation, limited partnership or limited liability company that conducts business in Minnesota under a name other than their full legal name, must file a Certificate of Assumed Name along with a $ 25.00 filing fee.”
