i’m starting a online business and i will be selling mens and ladies clothing from a wholesaler and i will be selling at wholesale prices, i need to apply for a florida sales tax ID number or both wholesaler tax ID i need some honest directions please.

First you would apply for an FEIN from the IRS – you fill out a SS-4 form – you may be able to do it on line or fax it to speed up the process.
Then you would need to check with the state of Florida to see what paperwork they have for you to fill out.
In Michigan we have a “Business Registration” form that you fill out – you tell them if you are going to collect sales tax &/or withholding tax &/or unemployment o&or whatever… You can even do it on line. There is a place for the Federal EIN and Michigan uses that number for the sales tax ID.
