New business – business cards in Christmas cards to family/friends?

Question by ashley c: New business – business cards in Christmas cards to family/friends?
I just recently started a home-based business. My family and friends know about it and my website but I want them to have my card. Is it tacky for me to send my business card in their Christmas cards? Note: these are not business Christmas cards.
I started a writing business (resumes, editing and tutoring services) that is in addition to my full-time job which is non-writing related.

Using your personal Christmas greetings to publicize your business would not be appropriate. It’s true that some business organizations send out Christmas cards in the firm’s name, but they never sound particularly sincere.

What is your new business? If it has anything to do with sewing, embroidery, or crafts, you could possibly design Christmas cards in that style, and have them printed. Without saying a word, they could suggest your new occupation. (However, this would not work for tax preparation, word processing, etc.)

Newspaper ads, word of mouth, your website, and business cards you give people during casual conversations would be much better ways of promoting your new business.
